Addressing Bug Trap / Cleaning Hassles

8/5/2026

Anyone else tired of taking down ceiling lights every summer just to empty out bug cemeteries?

Every summer, my standard fixture became a graveyard for tiny fruit flies and moths. No matter how tight the shade felt, they’d somehow find a way in, leaving hideous dark spots and shadows every time the light was on. Cleaning it meant climbing a ladder, unscrewing glass covers, and praying nothing broke. I eventually realized the flaw was in the construction gap. Instead of standard multi-piece fixtures, I shifted to fully sealed, IP50-rated ultra-slim designs. A solid sealed optical engine completely prevents insects and dust from getting inside, so the diffusion panel stays spotless year-round without any maintenance. I found a really slick, low-profile sealed model that solved this completely for my home. If you need a recommendation, feel free to DM me!
